Headington School Boathouse
Headington School Oxford Boat Club (HSOBC) is one of the largest, most admired and successful school boat clubs in the UK. The club has had more than 120 girls who have rowed competitively for team GB and an Olympian competing at the last four Olympic games.
The Headington School Boathouse is situated at Maddy Moorings in Long Wittenham, located just upstream from the Barley Mow pub where nineteenth century author Jerome K. Jerome wrote the timeless classic ‘Three Men in a Boat’.
The eight-acre site provides the boat club with awe-inspiring views across the River Thames to delightful private grazing meadows. Rowers will benefit from 300 metres of river frontage and 5km of uncongested water.
The environmentally sustainable boathouse features a sedum wildflower blanket roof, large landing stage and boat bay storage area. The new facilities also include a spacious crew room, changing and shower facilities and a kitchen.
HSOBC is going from strength to strength and we are delighted for the club to now have access to its first ever Boathouse.
