Enrichment at Headington Rye Oxford Prep School
An education at Headington Rye Oxford Prep School is much broader than that offered by the curriculum alone and we provide an extra-curricular programme that represents a substantial part of the education experience at the school.
Even some of the very youngest pupils (from Reception onwards) benefit hugely from the experiences of trying new things and it is often at this stage that hobbies and passions outside the classroom start to develop. As well as developing new skills and interests, the children learn the value of teamwork and gain the confidence to try new things. There is flexibility to change from one activity to another, but we do encourage them to be committed in order to get the most out of their chosen club. The programme is wide and varied and we aim to offer age-appropriate activities throughout the school. Some activities incur a small charge and some change from term to term. New activities are added all the time. The philosophy of the programme is to offer something for everyone and that activities are voluntary so that pupils choose to pursue the activities of interest to them. Participation is always encouraged as involvement in activities is seen as an essential part of the learning experience, affording them the opportunity to develop skills in activities that they enjoy and in so doing experience the challenges and successes that help prepare them for life.
