Values
Headington School is a dynamic institution and we continue to build on the vision of our founders, who created a school to provide “a sound education for girls to fit them for the demands and opportunities likely to arise after the war”. Today, our girls face very different challenges and here they develop the thinking skills, creativity and problem-solving skills to help them succeed in life.
Today we aspire for our girls to be future ready. At Headington they develop creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills so they are fully prepared to take on the challenges they may face and to thrive, wherever life takes them. We provide the best possible environment for teaching and learning through first-class resources and facilities, encouraging academic rigour, independence and initiative at all ages.
Ethos
Happy children thrive
Headington Prep School is a happy place where we know and value each girl as an individual. We introduce pupils to a wealth of experiences, discovering and developing individual interests and enthusiasms, playing to their strengths and celebrating them so that they flourish.
Our aim is to provide an outstanding education with wide ranging opportunities which satisfy the pupils’ natural curiosity and passions. We encourage them to take risks and to embrace the learning opportunities, from experiencing failure within a supportive environment to welcoming problem solving opportunities which can be unravelled by thinking critically and creatively and working collaboratively with others.
There is a strong sense of community at Headington Prep School. Our girls form lasting friendships and develop excellent social and communication skills. They are encouraged to think of others and make a positive contribution to their community and environment whilst also developing a global awareness. Headington girls make a difference, wherever they are.
This ethos is encompassed by our school mascot Edwina Bear.
