TRANSITION TO SENIOR SCHOOL

Next Steps

Events relating the transition of our Year 6 pupils to senior school, begin in the Summer Term of Year 5. For those girls who are intending to transfer to Headington Rye Oxford Senior School, parents are welcome to attend a Meet the Head event held in the Autumn Term of Year 6, at which parents meet Headmistress Caroline Jordan and other key senior school staff. The girls themselves have a taster morning too, during the Spring Term which is always hugely popular. We also encourage parents to attend one of our Open Morning events in the Summer or Autumn Terms of Year 5/6 to experience the senior school atmosphere.

Developing links for boys moving onto new schools is equally important. We work closely with schools our boys may attend, whether that be inviting staff in to visit our pupils, arranging trips, fixtures and events at future schools and of course preparation for entrance procedures. Further information is made available to parents in the Autumn Term.

A gradual change of pace throughout Key Stage 2 prepares the pupils for a smooth transition and we provide a full programme of advice and support to pupils at this crucial time in their education.
