Art Scholarships
What are we looking for in an Art Scholar?
Our Art Scholars have a variety of different artistic backgrounds and excel in different techniques, styles and media. Some may come to us with significant artistic experience while others may be at the early stages of their artistic journey. Applications from those with a passion for Fashion and Textiles are also welcomed.
We would expect potential scholars to be able to demonstrate:
- good drawing skills and a willingness to practise and develop these skills
- an ability to experiment with different media and a wide colour palette
- independence and imagination in their work

- An outstanding attitude towards learning in lessons
Selection and assessment procedure
How do I apply?
External students must register their interest in an Art Scholarship by noon on Wednesday 11th October 2023, using the appropriate form sent by the Admissions team in the Autumn Term. Existing students must complete the appropriate form sent to them by the Headmistress in the Autumn Term.
Assessment
What do I need to submit for the Art Scholarship Assessment?
- All students, both internal and external should submit a portfolio containing no more than five A1 sheets in a media of individual choice and one or two sketchbooks. Overseas candidates must submit their portfolios electronically by Saturday 9th November 2024. Candidates attending the entrance day in person at Headington School should bring their portfolio with them for discussion at interview. Electronic portfolios should be submitted to scholarships@headingtonschool.com.
- External candidates should also submit a teacher reference to the relevant email address above.
What does the Art Scholarship Assessment involve?
