Welcome from Caroline Jordan, Headmistress
As we look forward to the new school year, I am hugely excited to welcome a new cohort to our fabulous Headington Rye Oxford community.
For those who will be new to the school, I very much look forward to seeing you at our New Pupils’ events on Thursday 13th June (for 11+) and Thursday 20th June (for 13+) and I know our boarding families will be equally excited to virtually meet other members of their boarding houses during the summer. These events will be wonderful opportunities to celebrate the start of your daughter’s educational journey and to get to know other families joining our community.
For those moving up from our prep schools into Upper 3 (Year 7) and those continuing their educational journey at Headington Rye Oxford, we hope you are as excited about the myriad new opportunities Senior School will offer as we are to have you with us.
This Handbook is intended to be a quick reference guide and has been designed to answer many of the questions you may have, now or later during the academic year. There is lots of information about getting your daughter ready for her first day at Headington Rye Oxford, which should be particularly useful for those new to the School. Alongside this is up-to-date information on uniform, travel and access, academic matters, pastoral care, communication, our co-curricular programme and the wider Headington community. You can also use the search function to look within the handbook.
There is a dedicated section for boarders, which, along with our Boarding Handbook, will provide all of the information you will wish to know. Further information on boarding, including allocation of boarding houses and induction activities and the Boarding Handbook will be sent directly to the parents of new boarders later this term.
For new parents in 2024-2025, do take a look at Headington Connect, our online networking platform, which allows the Headington Community to engage with one another and develop career mentoring, work experience and business networking opportunities, as well as access to social opportunities. To join, visit www.headingtonconnect.org.
More information, including all school policies, can be found on the Parent Portal, under 'Documents', while our website is another excellent way to keep up to date with school news. You can also follow us on Twitter @HeadingtonSch, Facebook as HeadingtonSch and Instagram @Headington_Sch and @HSO_VI. A weekly Heads Up newsletter will appear in your inbox on a Friday during each term to keep you up to date with life in school and the key events on the horizon.
In the meantime, if you have any other questions, do visit our New Joiners landing page here where you will find all our Handbooks, Admissions Newsletters and parent letters. You can also contact admissions@headington.org or call the Admissions team on +44 (0) 1865 759861/113/872/116. Current parents should refer to the useful numbers section of the booklet to help decide where to address your query.
I very much look forward to celebrating the new academic year with you.
