Next steps
It may seem early to start thinking about what happens at the end of Senior School but, behind the scenes, we will start preparing your daughter for the next steps almost as soon as she arrives.
The majority of our girls stay at Headington Rye Oxford for Sixth Form, where they will choose three or four A Levels with the option of further developing their studies with a personal project, the Extended Project Qualification. We pride ourselves on offering around 30 subjects and we will arrange our timetables around your daughter’s preferences – virtually any combination is possible.
Our new Sixth Form Centre, opened in early 2019, has been created with the particular needs of older teenagers in mind. Naturally, there are plenty of well-equipped places to study but there’s also space to relax, take the pressure off and recharge. Here your daughter will be treated like a young adult rather than a child, with far greater independence as she is encouraged to take more responsibility for her own learning.
Your daughter will spend time in our Sixth Form Centre in Year 10, enjoying taster lessons in Sixth Form-only subjects and experiencing this new style of teaching and learning. Our Academic and Pastoral Directors of Middle School will work closely with her to help her choose the subjects which will best suit her chosen path beyond Headington.
Alongside this, we offer a comprehensive careers programme, with one-to-one guidance, careers fairs, careers days and other events to ensure your daughter has all the information she needs to prepare for her future.
