Executive Summary
We are seeking catering assistants for the senior School. You will be required to prepare the dining room for service, set up serving counter areas, beverage areas clearing areas and assist with general catering duties in order to deliver a first class fresh nutritious food offer and service to all pupils / customers/ parents and staff.
You should enjoy working as part of a busy team and possess excellent customer service skills, be organised and motivated. You will be a good communicator and have a flexible and positive approach. Some lifting is involved.
Previous experience of working in a food environment, plus a basic food and hygiene certificate would be desirable however it is not essential as training will be provided.
The Catering Department
The Catering Department consists of 35 staff operating over two sites, Prep and Senior schools.
All the catering staff are directly employed by the School. We operate all year round with external lettings during the Summer and Easter Holidays.
Role Description
There are two vacancies available, full time and all year round catering assistants are required.
Key Responsibilities
- assist in the production and service of a high quality food offer for core services and functions as required.
- assist pupils with their food choices as required in a professional, supportive manner.
- ensure that all catering areas, particularly front of house areas, are clean and tidy at the beginning, during and end of service and tables are cleaned during service ready for subsequent diners.
- ensure that counter food, condiments and water is replenished through periods of service.
- clear dirty trays from the trolleys and wash cutlery, trays and cups and replenishing supplies as required during services.
- maintain the cleanliness of all light and heavy equipment in accordance with training to maximise the visual impact of equipment for services and protect the community against contamination of food.

Terms of Appointment
Type of Contract
Full time, permanent, 40 Hours per week - working shifts five out of seven days per week, between the hours of 6.00 am and 8.00 pm.

Pension
Contributory membership of the School’s Support Staff Pension Scheme with a School contribution of up to 9.95 per cent upon successful completion of six months’ service.
Fee remission
In accordance with the School’s policy, which may be subject to change, up to 50 per cent fee remission for girls attending Headington School and up to 20 per cent fee remission for boys attending Magdalen College School (under a reciprocal agreement) and subject to the terms of their policy. Fee remission is calculated on the number of weeks and hours worked and is pro rata for part-time staff who work at least 50 per cent of a working week.
Hourly Rate
£11.03 per hour
