Executive Summary

Headington Rye Oxford is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised Marketing Executive to join our busy Marketing Department. This is an exciting time to join the team following the merger of Headington School and Rye St Antony in September 2024. The successful candidate will create content for the School’s social media channels and website, design print, digital and OOH adverts and plan and implement digital campaigns.

The Marketing Executive will have experience working with design and photography packages such as the Adobe Creative Suite, CMS and automated mailing packages such as MailChimp. Videography filming and editing skills would be advantageous and candidates should demonstrate an understanding of how AI has and is likely to continue to impact marketing.

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, all-year round. Occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support core marketing and admissions events.

Marketing and Admissions at Headington Rye Oxford

The Admissions and Marketing Teams are located together in Boundary Cottage on the Senior School site, with an additional office based on the Prep School site. Our team of Admissions staff manage local, national and international enquiries for places across all entry points to the School, from initial contact to enrolment. The Marketing team generates interest in the school through advertising, press, publications and social media and manages the website, PR, the Headington Rye Oxford brand, marketing events and communications.

The Marketing and Admissions teams work closely together to present a strong and welcoming image of the School to feeder schools and prospective families alike, running Open events and Entrance Days and attending Future Schools Fairs both at home and abroad.

Role Description

The Marketing Executive role is a full time, all-year round permanent position starting in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • content creation, including photography, filming and news gathering
  • planning and delivery of content across the School’s social media channels
  • planning and delivery of digital advertising campaigns
  • day-to-day website management and updates, including news stories
  • providing analytics from social media, website and digital advertising as required
  • managing external photographers and videographers including creating schedules and assisting during shoots
  • liaising with external contractors including advertisers, printers and promotional item suppliers
  • using the Adobe Creative Suite, designing and updating advertisements, banners, posters, programmes and other items as required to meet the Marketing Department’s needs
  • using the Foleon platform, updating online publications
  • proofreading
  • ensuring all items produced are in line with school brand and style
  • assistance with the organisation of events, including attendance at events as required, some of which will be in the evenings and at weekends

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • experience planning, managing and running digital advertising campaigns and social media channels
  • degree and/or equivalent professional qualification or experience relevant to the role

Desirable

  • CIM
  • knowledge of UK independent schooling
  • experience of working in a professional capacity in a marketing role
  • experience of school marketing

Personal Attributes and Skills

  • competent in photography and graphic design (essential)
  • experience with relevant marketing and editing software eg Photoshop, InDesign, Hootsuite, MailChimp, Wordpress (or other CMS)
  • excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • strong interpersonal skills including ability to liaise with wide range of different stakeholders

Pension

Contributory membership of the School’s Support Staff Pension Scheme with a School contribution of up to 9.95 per cent upon successful completion of six months’ service.

Fee remission

In accordance with the School’s policy, which may be subject to change, up to 50 per cent fee remission for pupils attending Headington Rye Oxford and up to 20 per cent fee remission for boys attending Magdalen College School (under a reciprocal agreement) and subject to the terms of their policy. Fee remission is calculated on the number of weeks and hours worked and is pro rata for part-time staff who work at least 50 per cent of a normal working week.
