Welcome from Caroline Jordan, Headmistress
After two years’ absence, we are delighted to be able to share with you our first Inspire magazine since 2019. There are a few differences you will notice from previous editions. Firstly, the format - as with much of what we now produce, we have gone fully digital, so we hope you enjoy the interactive nature of this online publication. This is part of our aim to be more environmentally friendly and cut down on the amount of physical printing we do in school.
Secondly, this is something of a special issue. As previously mentioned, we did not publish Inspire in 2020 or 2021. This was not because your daughters were any less inspiring - they were perhaps even more so - but because it was difficult to accurately document the tremendous work they were doing, sometimes remotely at home, sometimes in school, sometimes split between locations and even timezones. There were very few residential trips, for example, during this period, and many of our events were changed to accommodate the restrictions which were in place at the time. While it was not possible to produce a traditional Inspire magazine for the previous two academic years, we felt it was important to reflect everything which happened during that time frame. So while this is a review of the 2021-2022 academic year, you will also find reflections from the Head Girl trio from 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, three years of exam results, pictures and reports from the trips and events which were unaffected by Covid and a section on lockdown learning. The new format has also allowed us a little more flexibility to include more pictures, a few videos and some other features which we hope you will enjoy.
As for the year which we are here recording - it has been a wonderful, although often challenging year, as we have slowly returned to normality after the pandemic. This year’s cohort were the first since 2019 to sit external examinations. They performed brilliantly - as did those assessed in the previous two years. We are proud of all their hard-won and richly-deserved results. There has been a multitude of fantastic individual and group achievements, artistic endeavours, sporting successes and inspiring productions. Please do take the time to browse through and reflect on the many incredible things your daughters have done over the past year. I am, as ever, so proud to be able to call myself their Headmistress.
