Academic Scholarships and Awards
Different academic scholarship awards are made at each entry point:
- At 11+, the Jefferies Academic Scholarship (10% of tuition fees) is awarded to an internal or external candidate alongside a small number of non-financial academic scholarship awards. One or more of the non-financial scholarships will be a STEM award.
- At 13+, two Moller Academic Scholarships (£600 per annum) are awarded to internal candidates and one Moller Academic Scholarship (£600 per annum) is awarded to an external candidate, alongside a small number of non-financial academic scholarship awards to external candidates.
Our Academic Scholars come from a wide range of different educational backgrounds. Some join us from the state sector, others from our own or other feeder Prep Schools, and others from further afield, either from elsewhere in the UK or abroad.
We are not looking for information and knowledge amassed, or even raw test scores — we are looking for a truly exceptional attitude to learning, displayed through the demonstration of:
- intellectual curiosity above and beyond work set in class
- the ability and inclination to learn independently
- a strong desire to extend personal knowledge
- the ability to clearly articulate and demonstrate thinking skills
What do we offer?
- After-school lectures and seminars exploring topics from a cross-curricular perspective
- A Scholarship Mentoring Programme
- For older scholars, the responsibility for coordinating scholars’ after-school lectures and master classes
- Opportunities to attend off-site scholars’ trips
- Guidance in developing ideas for the annual scholars' project
- Our annual Scholars’ Dinner celebrating achievement and commitment
What do we expect from our Academic Scholars?
- High attainment and engagement in all their subjects
- Excellent examination results
- Involvement in enrichment activities inside and outside of school, for example, clubs and societies, competitions and lectures
- For U3–L5 and L6 scholars, completion of their own individual project over the course of the Academic Scholars’ Programme
