Inspiring Minds
We nurture, support and challenge girls to help them excel academically.
Your daughter will learn from excellent teachers – specialists in their fields who love their subjects. Progress and attainment are exceptional, with many girls achieving far beyond their expectations.
However, Headington Rye Oxford is not an ‘exam factory’. Girls here are encouraged and inspired – not bulldozed. Building resilience, self-confidence and self-belief is an integral part of our approach and will help your daughter develop self-motivation. She will be treated as an individual and given the time and flexibility to choose her academic path.
With a huge range of academic choice, with over 20 subjects at GCSE and around 30 A Levels on offer in the Sixth Form, your daughter will be able to find options which suit her talents and interests.
We build timetables around your daughter’s choices as soon as she selects her GCSE subjects, rather than forcing her to choose from prescribed options. There is a strong focus on creativity and innovation and we provide plenty of opportunities for cross-curricular learning so your daughter can understand how different subjects work together.
For those who have a particular interest, we have developed co-curricular pathways which will help girls follow a clear development path to gain related transferable skills during their time at Headington Rye Oxford.
Those with an interest in, for example, Engineering, Community Action, or Entrepreneurship, will be able to see what courses, extra-curricular activities and enrichment opportunities they can pursue, resulting in relevant leadership opportunities and a deeper understanding of their area of interest.
Girls are encouraged to pursue their interests as they develop creative and critical thinking and research skills, with the option to study for a Higher Project Qualification alongside GCSEs or an Extended Project Qualification in the Sixth Form on a topic of their own choosing.
